Optimising Your Meta Title
Optimising your meta title, is a very basic and effective way of optimising your page for SEO, to optimise the meta title to the highest possible standard just ensure you have checked off all of these suggestions:
- Keep the keyword as close to the start of the title as possible
- Keep the keyword above 40 characters and below 60 characters
- Use keyword variations in the meta title if possible
- If you can’t get the meta title as close to 60 characters as you hoped you can always use your company name at the end of your meta title.
Optimising Your Meta Description
Making your meta description SEO optimised is very similar to the meta title other than you can use up to 160 characters rather than 60 characters:
- Keep the keyword as close to the start of the meta description as possible
- Keep the keyword above 140 characters and below 160 characters
- Use keyword variations in the meta description if possible
Keep Your Landing Pages 2 Clicks or Less Away From The Homepage
It is important to keep your landing pages 2 clicks or less away from the homepage to ensure it is crawled faster by google, and give you a small benefit in SEO.
To keep it two clicks away from the homepage you could either add a HTML sitemap with a link in the footer to the HTML sitemap page, or add it as a link in the footer or the header menu.
